Is Fascial Therapy the same as a massage?

Fascial Therapy is a form of structural integration based on the teachings of Ida Rolf, Thomas Myers and the Myodetox methodologies. Unlike massage, the client remains dressed and will be moved, assessed, and reassessed throughout treatment. The treatment is reported to be slightly more uncomfortable than a deep tissue massage as we attempt to eradicate the clients' chronic strain patterns and restore a more neutrally balanced posture.

Do I have to completely undress for my session?

If you are getting a full body massage it is appropriate to undress to your level of comfort. Keep in mind the therapist will always have you covered with a sheet (aka "draping") and only expose the areas being treated at a time.

If you opt for Integrative Fascial Therapy treatment, please bring a pair of loose gym shorts and a non-compressing sports bra.

Should I eat before my treatment?

It is recommend to eat light and stay well hydrated before and especially after any sort of bodywork.

If you are visiting for the first time you can expect to fill out a client intake form. Then you and the massage therapist will discuss what type of treatment you are expecting and what areas of the body you would like to focus on. You will also sign a consent form which allows the therapist to give the treatment as outlined in the intake form.

It is important to let the therapist know if you have an health concerns or take medications on a daily basis.
